Mardi Gras!

This past week I was so excited that Hudson's preschool had a little Mardi Gras parade for all the littles. He was dressed in MG colors and ready to go!
Capturing a picture of this little guy is still an Olympic sport, but it's getting a little easier if you sing a silly little song about potty humor...
One last attempt before heading out the door, and of course, the best smile ended up being on my phone pic! Figures!
It was our turn to bring snacks for the week, so I decided to also bring a King Cake as an added treat for right after the parade. Most king cakes have cream cheese but one of the littles in Hudson's class is allergic to cheese so plain cinammon it was.

I figured I would just pop in and out of a local bakery and just grab a cake on the way that morning. Mistake #1. I should have pre-ordered so that I could have gotten the right size because the only plain cinammon king cake they had was HUGE...for like 35+ people...and $$!! Oh well, all for the littles.

And then, just a few steps from the door WHAM! I tripped on my own two feet and landed smack on the floor in my cute denim sheath and nude platform heels, somehow managing to land the XL box on the table of an unsuspecting woman who was probably enjoying her "once a week quiet breakfast by herself". Bless her heart. I'm just thankful I didn't spill her coffee!

She was so kind and immediately stood up and started fussing over me ever so sweetly. Yes, my knees were hurting, but it was my pride that was hurting the most - ha! All I could think to say was "The cake! Please check the cake!" hahahaha

And if you're wondering, yes, the cake was okay and all was right with the world once again.

I love that Hudson's preschool really works those thematic units. This was one of their books this week, leading up to the Mardi Gras parade...
And the corresponding artwork...
Last week when they had their teddy bear pajama picnic, they also had gUmmY bEaR sCieNcE...so cute! Hudson's prediction: {They are} going to change colors...
Time for the parade!
K-3 Fish Class lined up and waiting...
Cuties! I loved listening to their conversations...3 year olds are hilarious!
The K-4 kids passed out the beads..."Will I get one or not?"...I could almost hear the wheels turning in Hudson's head...
YES! I got one!!!
Mr. Personality, that's for sure! he he he
Silly boy! Love him to pieces!!
Hanging out with his buddy Madeline...they even fake smiled the same way - too funny!
On my way out I noticed this sweet tree...
The day before during Chapel, they talked about Jesus and how He loves us. They talked about ways to show their love to others and then about who they show their love to...such a sweet way to "study" Valentine's Day.

Speaking of...
Love this!! {via pinterest}

spring is in the air...

...and these might just put a little extra skip and a hop her way!
Aren't they sweet?? My late-at-night phone pics don't do them justice. They're even cuter in person and she says they're comfy.
Just stumbled upon them yesterday at a local boutique while looking for a pair of cutesy tennis shoes she could use for PE. The brand is Madie Jane, just in case you're wondering. I had never heard of them before, but they are a small company out of Dallas. See more cuteness {here}.
This pic makes me laugh, but seriously, this is how I've been feeling this week...how many more days 'till Friday?!?!
And one last pic...love this one of my two sweet littles. They may pick on each other and try to one up the other all the time, but they truly are best friends. The little pumpkin is fiercely protective of her little brother. I still remember her telling another child, "Don't talk to my little brother that way. You are hurting his feelings." I sure hope they always stay this close...
Did I mention I'm ready for the weekend??!?
Oh, I did...............*wink*

love is in the air

I've been adding a few v-day decorations here and there to make it a little more festive...
...and this morning we had a super yummy breakfast of {this} French Toast casserole, bacon, heart-shaped blueberry muffins, and clementines...on a weekday! I know!!
These two littles were super excited as you can tell...
Okay, okay, I'm cheating a bit. Although they did gobble up the breakfast, that wasn't the reason for the big smiles. They were excited because we gave them their valentine treats early!!
Yup, there were heart-themed jammies in there so I wanted to get maximum use - hahaha! This little guy was too funny..."I'm pretending I don't see my basket."
The little pumpkin was pretty excited...
All kinds of Star Wars goodies...
I don't know what it is about Pez candy, but my littles are obsessed!
Yes, yes...Pez and Legos!!
She's looking so grown-up these days...*sigh*...I can't believe she's about to be sIx!
Such a fun way to start a Monday morning!!
Happy February! Dance yourself silly!!
XOXO,

more good news, 100 years old, Matilda Jane, and more!

My mom's second {and hopefully last!} surgery on Tuesday went GREAT!
She had a much easier time with the immediate post-surgery stuff since they adjusted her meds so she wasn't so groggy and nauseated afterward. She was in a bit more pain the next couple of days but thankfully our prayers were answered that she was able to rest at night. But the best news is this: Her sweet surgeon called the day after surgery to tell us that the pathology report had already come back and there was absolutely NO CANCER present in the tissue they removed! What a sweet blessing from the Lord!! THANK YOU for praying with us that everything would turn out well!

When the results came back so quickly, my thoughts immediately turned to the doctor that processed the pathology...I am incredibly thankful to him or her for knowing how important these things are to those waiting and for possibly working overtime to get results out so quickly. I may never meet you, but THANK YOU for going above and beyond!!

Now some random pics from our week...I've been slacking on posting lately :(

Isn't this saying so true?? Grace's Easter dress came in the mail this week and it had this little tag attached...she insisted I pin it to her mirror. Love it!
Hudson had a Teddy Bear Pajama Picnic at his preschool...check out his "teddy bear" he he he...he LOVES Star Wars!!
There is something so sweet about little girls walking hand in hand...I love to watch Grace and her friends as they make their way to the carpool line. Sure am thankful for sweet friends...
So proud of the little pumpkin for getting all of these except nut/nut...but I have to admit I, too, had a hard time coming up with "nut & bolt"...
Happy Birthday Aunt Marilyn & Jade!!!
Best thing about waking up super early on a weekday??? An impromptu donut stop!! We left the house 30 min. earlier than usual and were able to hang out at Krispy Kreme Friday morning...
It may or may not have been a little bit of a bribe for wearing jeans - ha! This little girl does NOT like jeans!!
One happy boy!
Target has some really cute stuff in the little girls' department...just spotted this mod little dress yesterday...too bad it only goes up to a 5T... the big girls' section is rather disappointing :(
Happy Birthday to one of my dearest friends Bridgette!! We have been friends for 18 years - Wow!
100 years old... Grace's teacher had them dress up as if they were 100 years old for the 100th day of school and take a picture to bring to school for a project...check out this little old lady - ha!
Matilda Jane
Are you a fan?? I saw the line in person yesterday and the colors are SO PRETTY!! These are my favorite pieces from the first release of Good Hart...
And yay for Spring!! {thanks Mr. Groundhog} Hope you have a great weekend!
