unplugged to replug.

The little old blog has been dying a slow death, hasn't it? I can't tell you how many times in the last couple of weeks, I've brought the laptop over to the sofa after putting the littles to bed with the best of intentions...and yet nothing. I've felt the need to unplug quite a bit lately. Two littles at two schools is no joke! I'm not sure how mamas with lots of littles of all different ages at several schools do it - not a clue!

But you see, I've needed to unplug to replug, if that makes sense. This past Summer, when I hurt my back, it was an eye-opening experience for me. A defining moment. Even though I asked the docs and they denied it, I felt that my weight contributed to my back giving out. I made a decision to claim back my health. Not just my weight, but my health...mind, body and spirit.

As many of you can relate I'm sure, I found myself nowhere on my priority list. Not in the middle, not at the bottom - NOWHERE. I knew right then, I needed to change that. To be a better wife and mother, I needed to put myself back on the list. So when Grace started school on August 12th, I embarked on a journey of my own. Today marks exactly 1 month, and I'm down 19.6 lbs and 3 dress sizes! I have more energy and I haven't had a single headache or backache since - praise the Lord for that!
So I'm back on the list. Not at the top, not at the middle, but also not at the bottom. Progress, not perfection.
Off to spend a girls weekend shopping with some my favorite girls from Sewing Club! Have a great weekend!  I'll be back soon to share more!

You look fantastic. Very inspiring. I have had three babies in three years and started running a few months ago only to find out I was pregnant again. I felt so blessed but also a bit discouraged. However, I decided to try to turn it around and stay active and running to hopefully have a super for fourth pregnancy. Thanks for keeping me encouraged. Keep up the good work :)

Wow, Jessica! Great job! I had one of those "ah-ha" moments last winter when I had illnesses back-to-back for almost a month. I realized that to be a better wife and mother, I needed to put myself back on my list. Otherwise, it was going to take its toll on my health. You look great, but I bet you feel even better!

Congratulations on putting yourself back on the list!! I started this journey myself on Monday, a few days after my 40th birthday and a little "reawakening" :)

You look awesome! Good for you! Do you mind sharing how you did it? I can relate to being no where on the list. I was doing so great at making time to work out before summer started. Then lost focus after wanting my kids to have a fun, memorable summer. I am trying so hard to get motivated again.

I have been reading your blog for over a year now, and I have never left a comment, but I need to now. First let me say, you are wonderful and I LOVE reading your blog! Your family is so beautiful and it is nice to know there are people like you. Second, Thank you for posting this! This past week I had decided to finally "put myself on the list". My little girl is almost a year and a half and I have neglected myself this entire time and it has left me feeling terrible about myself and it truly affects the way I act. I feel I need to make ME a priority in some way so that I can be a better person so I can be a better Mama and Wife. Your post has really motivated me even more than before. Not only do you look amazing, you look happy! Thank you so much for posting, you have really ignited the fire under me, even more so than it was :) Do you think maybe you would be interested in doing a post about what you are doing? It really seems to be working well and I would LOVE to hear how you do it!

Wow! I am inspired by what you did in just a month. You have always been a beautiful person both inside and out. But I do see a little extra sparkle in your eyes. Keep it up and don't let momma fall off the list. She deserves to be on that list :)

You look amazing! It's so hard as a mommy to find that balance and put yourself somewhere in the priority list. I am struggling with that now. You have to share your plan and how you did it! Such an inspiration!

Congratulations on your hard work. You look great. I also decided to take my health back the day after Mother's day this year. I've lost 66 lbs. I've been eating healthy, mostly " clean eating" and Walking and riding my bike. Who knew that is what it took. Ha.

Try not to let your blog slip too far away, I know you loved using it as a family diary, scrapbook, album sort of thing. Sometimes we get so busy we let these things slip and even though it is far, far, far down on the scale of importance when it comes to lovin our hubbies and kids and making time for them because after all that is what matters most. But as a mom of grown kids I am thankful beyond words that I didn't let documenting slip because we have all the precious memories that our little brains might have forgotten if it wasn't for taking the time to put it in words and pictures at the time. I know it can be so hard, life and love keeps us busy, busy, busy. Even if you write a few words and add some pics it's a great way of keeping record. Not trying to tell you what to do. I know you are a busy momma and a good momma too. I would just hate to see you sad when the children are bigger and you would think oh how I wish I never gave up my blog.

That's wonderful Jessica! You look great!
I am also going thru something similar. I have been trying to have baby #2 and I can't get pregnant. My doctor told me it maybe be my weight and she needed to run some test. It was a big wake up call.

Wow! I am a new mom trying to find the balance - with just one baby is hard enough. You look spectacular - great job! Losing the weight, getting life back in balance- everything! I love reading your blog! Maybe I'll manage to start my own one day. (One say when I sleep for more than 2 hours straight!)
