overjoyed with gratitude...and a little thrift store score!

I've been slacking on the blogging front because I've spent quite a few after-hours this week at Grace's school getting ready for the big kindergarten event - the Literary Ball...more on that later...it was super cute!...but this week in between several doctor's appointments, we received THE best news ever about my mom and this cancer journey. The special tests they were running on the tumor they removed at the beginning of January came back and she does NOT need chemo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an answered prayer!!!

She will still need radiation beginning mid-February and undergo her second {and hopefully last!} surgery this Tuesday, so please continue to keep her in your prayers, but we are overjoyed with gratitude at the blessing God has bestowed upon her in not needing chemo. When she told me, I just couldn't stop shaking and crying because we have been praying so hard for this and we know so many others have joined us in this prayer request - Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Work in progress
Grace is sooooo excited - she's very into mermaids lately...
I've had my trunk full of random stuff we have been needing to drop off at Goodwill since before Christmas and every week the pile just keeps growing and growing to the point I could barely fit groceries in the back of my SUV, so finally this week I was able to stop by - woo hoo!

My mom was with me so she stayed in the car with the littles while I ran inside really quick...I'm on the hunt for some old picture frames and vintage sheets for a project...I didn't find any...but in my 10 minute mad dash I found all of this:

Yup, that's a new Matilda Jane shirt in Grace's size for $3.99, misplaced and left with the picture frames...I think it was meant to be - ha ha!
I like all kinds of fun jewelry, so I was excited to find this fun beaded necklace too:
And the little pumpkin takes after me when it comes to accessorizing so she was happy I spotted these for her...
Hudson is into cards and puzzles and this brand new set was just too cute to pass up...
I also picked up a book for my mom. And my grand total: 8.65!

I've been having estate sales and antiques stores withdrawals lately and this was just what I needed - hahahahahaha. Yes, I'm just as likely to shop boutique and premium labels as bargain racks, I like to mix it up. But I've never been much of a Goodwill shopper...maybe I need to add it to the rotation?!?

Happy Saturday...off to a birthday party!
And still on Cloud 9 for my mom!!!!
Praise the Lord!

day planner crush

Every year I look for the perfect day planner to keep me organized, use it a couple of months, and then out the door it goes. I think I finally found a keeper!!
Ordered {this one} from Paper Coterie when it was on sale a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be happier!
The monthly layout is perfect for me because I'm visual and like to see everything together on one page...
I love that it has these fun pages with categories like "10 things I am grateful for", "a funny thing happened", and "favorite moments"...so much better than "to do" and "budget" - ha!
But what I love most are the pictures sprinkled throughout!!
Every time I open my planner and see pictures like these, my heart grows a little fuller...
At 8" x 8", it's the perfect size to keep tucked in my purse. But if you see me finding excuses to pull it out randomly just to sneak a glimpse at my favorite people, you'll know why!!
I have a feeling this one will be around way past 2013...
Happy Monday!

week in review...

A bunch of {mostly phone} pics from our week...

Teacher Treat Wednesday
Coordinated by the PTA, every Wednesday a small group of parents at Grace's elementary school provides lunch for all the teachers...I love that we do this! I don't think we can ever do enough to thank teachers for what they do to nurture, teach, and encourage our littles. This week it was our turn...six of my fellow kindergarten moms and I set up brunch for the faculty...
Pancake skewers, donuts, sausage balls, pigs in a blanket, blueberry muffins, and cinammon sugar pretzels - yummmmmmmmmmm!
We even had a couple of drawings for door prizes...these beautiful flowers and several others!
And while I was there setting things up I was able to sneak away and have lunch with my favorite girl!!
Target Shopping
Lovin' these jumbo stripey straws...milkshakes anyone?
And oh my, is this tape not the cutest??!
Spring Cleaning
Spent 4 hrs. cleaning 1 bathroom that was cleaned 2 weeks ago. I think I've gone mad.
Sewing Club
Oh, I can't stand the cuteness of these sweet chevron dresses my friend Ashleigh made for her girls for Valentine's Day!!
LOVE the adorable pincushion our sweet friend Sara surprised us with!!  Thank you, Sara!!
Friday's sewing club was all about knits. Knit Leggings to be exact. Ashleigh taught us how to make cute leggings like these...
Sara made these adorable ones for her sweetie Emma!
And I was super proud to even just tweak a pair by adding this ruffle - ha!  My first time to sew with knit - woo hoo!
I love spending time with these sweet girls! Thank you for hosting us every month, Ashleigh!!!

Me: Who are your two girls?
Hudson: Grace and you, Mama!
This little boy melts my heart every single day!! He has a heart of gold. LOooove him!!

Celebrating with Noonie...and an update!

Tuesday night we celebrated Noonie's birthday by taking her out to eat at one of our favorite hibachi grills.
We wasted no time giving her our presents...
First up, a beautiful painting from our resident Picasso...
A special pair of PJs...
And the sweetest little dogwood blossom earrings that I fell in love with for their meaning...
When the dogwoods bloom in the spring, the blossoms resemble crosses. Each petal bears a mark like a nail print on its outermost edge, and the circle in the center of each flower suggests the crown of thorns. The dogwood blossom, then, becomes a beautiful symbol for Christ's Passion.
{via: James Avery}

I know this is a season in my sweet mom's life and when she emerges victorious over the cancer, she will bear the mark of having gone through this painful trial...of having carried this cross...but the beauty that will radiate from her will be striking.
Happy Birthday to you...
Happy Birthday to you...
Happy Birthday dear Noonie...
Happy Birthday to you!
We love you more than words can say, mom!
My mom's 2nd surgery has been moved from January 22nd to January 29th as we wait the result of a special test that will help map out our next steps. I humbly come to you and ask you to keep her in your prayers, especially on Jan. 29th.
Thank you!!
