planning a...

...sweet little birthday party!
Yes, the little pumpkin decided several months ago that she wanted to have a birthday picnic, "I just want to eat out of little baskets and fly kites." A girl after my own heart, I tell ya! But given {our past experiences} with birthday themes, I kind of sat on it even though I loved her idea, thinking she might change her mind.
Then December came around and then January and my mind just wasn't on party planning. It was simply on helping my mom kick cancer's butt. Today is her first day of radiation, by the way, and I'd be ever so grateful for your prayers over the next 7 weeks. She's doing aMazINg considering everything she's been through! Thank you for all of the sweet messages of encouragement and for all the heartfelt prayers!!
Okay, so fast forward to 3 weeks before Grace's birthday - yikes! - and I'm finally in full party planning mode.  Along the way, there has been mention of mermaids, art parties, and the like, but she kept coming back to "picnic", so we're running with it!
Yes, we're having a Picnic in the Park 6th Birthday Party for the little pumpkin!  I've been digging through my stash of party supplies to put together a sweet, eclectic little party for my girly girl and all her little friends.  She loves to sit with me and plan out all the fun details - I love that about her!  So far she wants to add a potato sack race and even throw a little Easter Egg Hunt in the mix.
As for me, I'm saying a daily prayer for good weather on March 10th and keeping my fingers crossed I can pull this off in exactly 19 days!

I LOVE this idea for a birthday party! The girls want to have a camping party next year combined with a sleep over. Thinking of all kinds of cute vintage camping gear! :)

I wanted to tell you that I am having my first MJ party this weekend and I am SO excited! Everything in the new collection is absolutely adorable!

When their minds are made up there is no turning back! My daughter is turning six in April. She has wanted a park/rainbow party the last six months! I've come up with several other suggestions and she has not budged!.

I've finally come to terms with it :) It will be wild with all those colors but I'll find a way to make it classy and fun! Happy planning I love seeing you celebrate life. I know its going to be awesome!

It sounds like a delightful party theme. It's wonderful that she likes to get involved in the planning process. Sounds like she may just be Party Planner just like her Momma ;-) I am looking forward to seeing the pics. You always create the sweetest children's parties. You inspire us all :-) Keeping my your mom in prayer.

Sorry for the typo. I meant keeping your mom in prayer.

I love your blog but have gotten terribly behind on it and so many others (as well as my own). A friend of mine that is an avid follower of yours asked me today if I had read your blog recently. Knowing me and about my mom she asked if I knew that your mom has cancer ( I apologize that I don't know what kind). Anyway... My mother was diagnosed with cancer (her 2nd time) of the throat right before Christmas. SHe began her 7 weeks of radiation on Monday as well. I thought maybe we could be a support for one another but I didn't know how to contact you except through this blog. I pray that your mom will do well. I know my mother's first treatment did not go well but the past 2 days have been better. My mom had breast cancer in 2010, had a mastectomey but did not have to have chemo or radiation. Different deal this time. I would love to talk to you about how things are going over the course of her treatment ( for them both) and I will definitely keep her and your family in my closest prayers. Blessings~ Dalene
