snow day

Yes, we had our "Snow Day"...albeit, no snow. But that couldn't stop us from enjoying a freebie, no-school holiday so I remembered THIS fun post and decided we'd give the Melting Snowman Cookies a try.

Ours didn't turn out quite as cute, but Grace had a blast making them and Hudson had a blast eating them and that's success in my book! :)
Mama, they kind of look like halloween ghosts.
Why, yes they do so we'll just call them our Snow Ghosts, how's that?
{insert belly laughter}
Back in the summer we went blueberry pickin' and ended up with loads of yummy, sweet berry goodness. I froze some of them and just recently thawed them out. We've been eating them fresh, but I decided we needed to try a new recipe with them.A quick search led me to THIS recipe, Blueberry Scones. I picked it mainly because of the simple ingredients and the fact we had all of them on hand, except the half & half. A quick substitution (thank you Angel & Tanya!) and we were on our way. A few easy steps and they were ready to go in the oven.
Hmmm...I think I need a new baking sheet and this one needs to be relegated to pizza duties only.
20 minutes later and voila! They weren't the prettiest scones I've ever seen, but they were still yummy all the same. The little pumpkin gObbLed a warm one right away, so they must have been pretty good to satisfy her picky taste these days. They weren't quite as sweet as I like my scones so next time I'll add a bit more brown sugar, but for this batch I just sprinkled a bit of refined sugar on top.

What have you been cooking lately?

Your scones look delish! I have a recipe here somewhere for white cholocate and craisin scones. Mmmm... Love the cookies too. Snow cute! Now you've got a new recipe for Halloween. ;)

I've been cooking up a storm here since Saturday. Beef and Barley soup, with homemade dinner rolls. M&M and chocolate chip cookies with our playdate yesterday and homemade granola today. The house smells differnt but good every day.

Too bad you didn't get any snow. Wish I could have sent you some of ours.

i so want some of those scones. And I really wanted to try the melted snowmen, but I was afraid it might be a little harder than it looks. Yours look fab!
